SAP’s participation at CES proves that the boundaries between consumer and enterprise have been crossed. Erased even. Forget about the consumerization of IT — the line between consumer technology and business technology has disappeared for good.
Consumer technology’s move into the business world — and vice versa — is undeniable: We see it every day with mobile apps and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programs that allow employees to handle their professional and personal activities from a single device, forever blurring where work lives (and “live” lives) begin and end.
With business and consumer worlds melding (or colliding, some may say), it’s only natural for an enterprise software company like SAP to make an appearance at an event dedicated to consumer technology. Still, it was a bit of a historic first for us, so when SAP’s CIO Oliver Bussmann received an invitation to sit on a CES panel focusing on the consumerization of IT, we sent a small team along with him to capture the overall experience with our cameras.
